Economy minister: Russian central bank may keep key rate Sep 11
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (PRIME) -- The central bank’s board of directors may decide to keep the key rate unchanged at the next meeting scheduled for September 11, Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev told reporters on Monday.
On July 31, the central bank decreased the key rate to 11% from 11.5%.
“The next meeting – it is a difficult question, because in a situation of devaluation expectations we must be very careful. I still believe that there is room for cutting rates, but whether to do it at the next meeting – I do not know,” he said. “Yes, I believe that maybe we will make this pause.”
